She’s Friendly is a monthly newsletter that reflects on gender, sexuality, kindness, pop culture, mental health, and the mundane. Each edition includes a personal essay alongside recurring containers like Hot or Not, Listed, Bookshelf, Recs, Lil’ Quote, Take Notice, and Jolene Corner. It’s an intentional space to reflect, feel, and preserve.
Created by Courtney King (she/they), She’s Friendly blends cultural critique with personal story, and celebrates the slow churn of self-inquiry. Courtney lives in Los Angeles after nearly a decade in the Bay Area, where they earned degrees in Communication Studies and Performing Arts & Social Justice with a Concentration in Dance from the University of San Francisco. Starting in Fall 2025, Courtney will pursue an MA in Curatorial Practices and the Public Sphere at USC’s Roski School of Art and Design. They’ve co-founded a dance company (Chlo & Co Dance), a period-care app (Orchyd), and currently serve as President of the Board at Stance on Dance.
There’s no separate Instagram for She’s Friendly. You can find Courtney’s personal and professional life @courtneyfjking, and browse nearly every book, comic, and graphic novel mentioned in the newsletter over on Bookshop.
